The lecturer has selected exhibitions of British Watercolours for the Arts Council, Birmingham City Art Gallery and Victoria & Albert Museum, London. He has also published research on the early 19th Century painters Samuel Prout and David Cox.
The talk will explore developments in subject-matter and technique made by British artists between 1750 and 1850.
Richard Lockett studied History of Art at the Courtauld Institute in London,
and became a lecturer at the Barber Institute, University of Birmingham. He
joined the Birmingham City Museums Service as Keeper of Fine Art in 1979 and
retired as Senior Assistant Director in l995. Since then he has worked as a
History Art Consultant, Writer and Lecturer.
